Best Quilt Frames!

I saw these quilt frames that I though where ingenious so I showed Eric and he said it would be easy to make. He spent his holiday Wednesday making me these. They work so well the quilt goes on faster and comes off is seconds plus it saves my thumbs from pressing in tacks and trying to pry them off after. Words cannot describe how thrilled I am with these quilt frames!

David's New Jacket

The grumpy face is because I made him 2 seconds later than he wanted for the bus this morning by taking this picture.

David came home from school yesterday and told me his Hoodie was too small. He didn't take it off all day because the neck hole was too small and he couldn't get it off. He asked me if I could make him a new Hoodie. I though this was a perfect opportunity to use one of the felted sweaters I had. A couple of months ago I found a mens XXL gap 100% wool(that is the key) at Goodwill and washed it 2 or 3 time and it was nicely felted. when I got it out I found it was only a little too big for David. So I cut it down and mad this Jacket. The sweater was $5, the zipper was$3 and the snap for the neck was a leftover so for $8 David had a nice felt jacket for school. Here is instructions on the conversion I did, you don't have to felt the sweater first before you make the jacket like I did.

last minute dress

I have had this fabric for a while and it is just sitting around doing nothing. Thanks to Hobby Lobby 99cent patterns I finally had a pattern to make Livvy a dress this afternoon.

Folding Fabic

The Wednesday before last I was stranded at the library with Livvy. It was poring rain and we didn't bring an umbrella. I decided to wait it out a little so after story time we headed up stairs to look at sewing books. Livvy was so good to sit and read her book wile I looked around. I found a book on fabric folding and with Julia's shower coming up and the cute fabric I found it all came together in something new form.

I had this center part done for almost a week before I figured out the rest of the quilt.

Halloween is Coming

I am in the mood for fall and I am getting ready for Halloween early. My sister-in-law asked me to make her twins (a boy and girl) Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy. So I thought I should start early so I cam ship them to Canada in time. I was so exited by the yarn wigs I made one for Livvy too. She is going to be an Alien.

Raggedy Ann makeup will make a big improvement

Raggedy Andy

The wigs are so easy to make. You just cut yarn twice as long as you want. Then you sew the yarn on to a cap in small clumps is a spiral till you get to the crown.

Halloween is coming

I love Halloween. To me it is a fun time to be creative costumes. Fall is my favorite season the colors and the cooler weather and yes my birthday. I am starting way too early on costumes.

Livvy was exited when I drew a picture of her as a pink haired alien. Today I was sewing something and Livvy brought me the yarn I had for her wig and said "pink hair please Mommy". so I stopped what I was doing and made Livvy her pink wig. She is so pleased.

For the Record

In response to Megan's blog I am not that amazing I am just pretty ordinary. I know Megan could have done a fabulous job of the curtains and bumper if she was up to it. Plus I have a little confection, it was so much fun to work on. Thanks to Megan's generous nature she let me help her out. And I could be a part of something cute. Oh ya all the design and fabric chooses where all Megan.

Questionable Creations

Sometimes in a sewers life (at least I hope this is not a unique problem to me) the vision of a creation is better than the outcome. Case in point the now dubbed Ronald McDonald suit. The idea was make a dress out if the left overs from a cute quilt. the reality was a horrible disaster.
Now I am afraid I have done it again. This Dress I made Saturday for Livvy is a little bright and I am thinking it just did not turn out as cute as I thought it would.
I hope every one feels better after a good laugh at my uber ugly dresses. Not everything works out but I am either determent or delouse but I keep trying.

Sun Dress

I was at the thrift store and I saw this super cute skirt for 50 cents. Problem it was not my size, I thought who do I know that is size 6? I don't know plus, I thought, how do I know anyone else would like it. I thought for 50 cents I could not by a zipper fabric and lining for a little dress for Olivia. I planned to take it all apart and use the fabric. When I got home I looked closely at the shirt and realized it was going to be more work than I wanted to unpick the hole thing. So I started to think up some way to modify the skirt into a dress for Livvy with the least amount of work.
This is what I came up with. A little dress with raglan sleeves. I left the zipper in and the sides of the waist band I cut off I reused as sleeves. The dress ended up very wide so I added ties.

Livvy was so good she stood still while I pinned and figured out the design.
